We are currently collecting Christmas gifts for the nearly 1900 children in foster care in Genesee County.  Unwrapped gifts may be dropped off at the offices of the Child Advocacy Team.  This project will be coordinated with the Department of Human Service's Angel Tree Project and with other Child Placing Agencies serving the needs of abused, abandoned, neglected and at-risk youth in our community.    Below is a Gift Suggestion List for targeted age groups.  Thank-you for your interest in providing Christmas for a needy child this holiday season.

Gifts for all ages are needed.  Bikes, Barbies and Legos are always high on the children's' wish lists.  Some other gift ideas are listed below and, for convenience, are broken down by age. 

GIFT IDEAS

Newborn to 12 months.  Clothing, hooded towels, age appropriate toys, rattles,  teethers, stuffed animals, winter buntings/coats, baby bath products, umbrella strollers, baby monitors, bouncers, saucers, walkers, baby swings, etc.  Clothing sizes 0 to 24 months.

1-3 years.  Clothing, sizes 12 months to 4T;  age-appropriate toys including almost anything Little Tyke, Step One, Fisher Price, Baby Einstein;  winter coats sizes 12 months to 4T; hats, mittens & scarves;  Dora the Explorer Dolls/Toys; Bob the Builder Toys; My First Barbie; Stuffed Animals; Toddler Beds; Coloring Books & Non-toxic Crayons; Legos or Mega Blocks for Babies and Toddlers.

4-7 years.  Clothing, sizes  4T to 8; Winter Coats, sizes 4T to 8, pajamas, robes, slippers; age-appropriate toys; bikes, helmets, knee pads and elbow pads; Legos; Barbies and Barbie accessories; Shoes; Coloring Books; Hot Wheel Cars; Remote control cars; Leap Pad; Play Kitchens

8-12 years.  Boys/Girls Clothing sizes 8-18; Winter Coats, scarves, mittens; pajamas, robe & slippers; Barbies & Barbie accessories; bikes; athletic apparel;  basketballs;  and age-appropriate games and toys.

13-16 Years.  Basketballs, MP3 Players; CD Players; Athleitic Apparel; makeup (especially for darker skin tones); jewelry; Winter Coats, Winter Boots, scarves, hats & mittens/gloves.  Clothing in Boys/ Girls sizes 16-18; Mens S-XL; Ladies 6-18.  Shoes/Boot Sizes

17-19. YEARS  Basketballs; Footballs; Athletic Apparel; CD Players; MP3 Players; makeup (for darker skin tones); jewelry; Winter Coats, sizes Men's/Ladies S-XXL; Men's Hiking Boots and athletic Shoes, sizes 9-13.  Women's Boots and athletic shoes, sizes 7-9; perfume and bath products;  pajamas, robes and slippers; and other age-appropriate gifts.

Independent Living Teens (ages 17-19).  In addition to the items listed in the above age category, other suggested gift ideas include, tool kits, first aid kits, toasters, microwaves, dish sets, towels, sheets, pots and pans,  phone cards;  McDonald's gift cards.

Young Mothers and Pregnant Teens.  Also in need of gifts for approximately 20 minor and young mothers.  In addition to the above suggestions, pacifiers, baby bottles, formula, baby first aid kits, baby grooming kits, baby thermometers, baby monitors, baby gates, strollers, high chairs, changing tables, Moses Baskets, bassinettes, bathinettes, washclothes & hooded towels, rocking chairs, Orajel and diaper rash lotion/ointment or spray; changing mats; diaper bags; bottle warmers; wipe warmers; layettes.
